My man Huck was digging my scene a little while ago, and he lays it down, saying in the way only he can say it, "You know, Fantastic, I was wondering how you became the musical love beacon that you are today." I told him that it was, in fact, the Universal Vibration of Music that truly awakened my soul and allowed the Groove to flow through me, healing me with Love and Creativity. The Great Vibration, or in other words, the Great Groove, is the totality of all vibrations in the universe, from the vibrations of atoms and their own groove party of quarks and strings and such beautiful wonders, to the chirping of crickets and the croaking of frogs, all singing their own songs and creating beauty and groove in their own way, to the solar wind caressing the sun's children with love and electromagnetic modulations, to the Big Vibe, the expansion and collapse of the universe, the breath of the All--this totality of vibrations, both large and small, grooving together and forever in polyrhythmic pulsation and harmonic resonances more complex than the human brain can consciously understand. That is the Great Groove. Unknowable through the conscious mind, it must be experienced by the body, through movement and breath and dance. The creation of vibrations in the air, harmonically resonating pulsing wind, is the easiest method of meditation that human beings can undertake to experience the Great Groove. That is, creating music and listening to music, both through one's ears and with one's body and breath through dance.  The dancer, is in fact, a silent musician, creating music, moving air with the body in motion. In the creation of music, a living being is drawn toward harmonic resonance, as this reflects one of the Great Teachings of the All. That is, that to be in harmony, to be grooving, is the true natural state of all things and that state is one of peace. And this leads the living being to consider the minute vibrations of the soul, the inner vibrations within and the communicated vibrations without. Love is the most harmonically resonant vibration and is truly a reflection of the Great Groove. So when I found the groove within, I found the groove without, and began to experience the healing power of the Song of the Universe, a song that has a groove so deep that I laid down that day and cried for all its beauty. I cried not because the song was a mournful song, but because I lived for so long without knowing my own place in its great beauty and because so many others create vibrations without knowing the harmonic richness that is possible in their own lives. They live in a deafness of fear and hatred, and do not hear the beauty of the Song of the Universe, and unknowingly create spaces of discord in their hearts that, while a part of the Great Groove, are not sung in harmony with the Song. Love, in its harmonic richness, may heal them with vibrational caresses, as it healed me. From that day forward, I understood that I must forever create love and peace and harmony and groove, that the anxiety that is pent up within so many must be released, that they must be helped to vibrationally breathe so that they may feel the peace that can only be known through the body. I understood that I was not the first person that had come into this consciousness. Many masterful brothers and sisters have preceded me and I am but a neophyte learning from their wisdom. The great prophet Stevie Wonder is perhaps, one of today's most enlightened messengers of truth. LaMonte Young has spoken true words upon the subject of the Great Groove. Locally, the Cubby Creatures have created beautifully textured harmonies, though they speak of the Great Groove in terms of the Cubby, much like Lao Tzu spoke of it in terms of the Tao. We can learn a great deal from those brothers and sisters who have come to this knowledge with their own language, as they help us to listen more deeply to the vibrations and resonances that teach us and show us the multiplicity of realities that are possible to perceive in much the same way that a new rhythm may lift a groove into a new space of vibrational expression. back to the cast page
