He loves the nightlife! He loves to boogie! Jo Jo has been dancing since birth. He used to wiggle in the womb so much that he danced right out of his mother's uterus in a remarkable 18 minutes of labor! JoJo was born into a family of award winning Square Dancers from Kentucky. But, he felt lost in the twirls of the sqare dancing community, so in 1986 at the ripe of age of 18 JoJo decided to tango with California. The Bay Area was exactly what JoJo was searching for! His creativity blossomed upon arriving and immediately he began performing whenever and where ever he could: street corners, Bart Stations, shopping centers. In 1988 JoJo founded the troupe Leapin' Lizards, which has been featured recently at the Russian River Crafts Fair, the Eureka Valley Middle School, and on the hit TV series Cubby Vision. The company employs the acclaimed "JoJo Technique" which is a blend of modern, jazz, freestyle, ballroom, disco, and brazillian, with a touch of square dancing. With 17 pieces to his credit, JoJo is looking forward to premiering his vision in a comprehensive performance titled, "Tic Toc: 86,400 Seconds of Dance". In the spirit of his guerrila art pieces of the 80's, this performance will take place through out the city in Bart Stations, parks, shopping centers, and perhaps even on the the Golden Gate Bridge (stay tuned for details!). JoJo fled the industry machine and embraced The Cubby in 1999. He is in the conceptual phase of development for a dance piece accompanied by a remix of the Cubby Creatures's "Boys 'n' Barry Jam". JoJo hopes one day to co-produce with Debbie Allen, an artist he holds in the highest esteem. But for now, in an effort to celebrate the beauty and wonder of childhood-trannyhood, JoJo is in contract negotiations with Marlo Thomas to produce a benefit for tranny-childern entitled "Still Free to Be You and Me," which will feature the talents of middle-school children from around the Bay Area. His auditions credits include: Michael Jackson's hit videos 'Thriller' and 'Beat It', Paula Abdul's 'Cold Hearted Snake', and Janet Jackson's 'Rhythm Nation'...(big break--asked to be a stand-in for one of the understudies!) Favorite Songs: "Solid Gold," by Dionne Warwick is the song JoJo listens to when in need of creative spark. "The Greatest Love of All," by Whitney Houston, 'cause the children really are our future! Favorite Dance Music: Disco-infused Hip-Hop with a splash of Salsa. Hobbies: Quilting and knitting. Motto: "Shake, shake, shake" JoJo has appeared in episodes 3, 4 and 8. back to the cast page |
