CUBBY CONTROL RECORDS ANNOUNCES RELEASE OF REPTIEL’S DOWN BELOW WORLD ALBUM, THIRD IN THEIR SCIENCE FICTION/FANTASY SERIES
San Francisco psych-rock and experimental music label Cubby Control Records announces the release of a new album by label veterans REPTIEL entitled Down
Below World. This is REPTIEL’s fifth album and third in their SciFi/Fantasy, Psychedelic Prog Rock series that began with 2015’s Hobbitozz … A Land
That Never Was, proceeded with 2018’s The Planet of Progkp and now continues with Down Below World.
Down Below World resumes the story of protagonist Sine and his transgalactic guide the Spirit Usher. This time they have found themselves *inside*
the planet of Progkp as they confront Progkp’s deity, Thos, after a journey to the planet’s core.
REPTIEL began recording Down Below World in 2019 at Light Rail Studios in San Francisco
by outsider record producer Elton Cunniffe who is responsible for some of the most unheard underground recordings in San Francisco history. They resumed
recording and mixing in 2021 when it was once again safe to meet in close proximity with other humans. Mastering of the album and solicitation of artwork
for the Down Below World CD and website commenced and concluded in 2023 and the album was officially released on Feb. 1, 2024.
REPTIEL was formed in San Francisco in 2009 by members of Bay Area underground indie rock bands The
Cubby Creatures, Thee More Shallows and The
Druggles. The REPTIELians claim to practice “ritual musick” in order to summon their stories and sounds, and only rarely do they perform live due to the
various members’ agoraphobia, superstitiousness and excessive stage fright.
